The Charm of Banana Chips
Banana chips are a fantastic snack – they’re naturally sweet, satisfyingly crunchy, and wonderfully nutritious. What’s even better is how effortlessly they can be made right at home. With this no-fuss recipe, you can enjoy homemade banana chips anytime you like.
Ingredients: Simple and Few
-
Ripe bananas (the riper, the sweeter)
-
A pinch of salt (optional)
-
A sprinkle of cinnamon or any other preferred spices (optional)
That’s it! No oil, no sugar, just bananas and your favorite seasonings.
The No-Oven Method
-
Slice the Bananas: Thinly slice the bananas. The thinner the slices, the crispier the chips will be.
-
Season (Optional): Lightly sprinkle the slices with a pinch of salt and your chosen spices. This step is optional, but it can add a lovely flavor to your chips.
-
Microwave Magic: Arrange the banana slices in a single layer on a microwave-safe plate. Microwave them on high for about 5-6 minutes. Keep a close eye on them, as microwave strengths vary.
-
Cool and Crisp: Once they’re lightly browned and crispy, take them out and let them cool. Cooling is important as it helps them crisp up further.
The Oven Alternative
Don’t have a microwave? You can use an oven too.
-
Prepare the Bananas: Follow the same slicing and seasoning steps as above.
-
Oven Baking: Preheat your oven to a low temperature (around 180°C or 350°F). Place the banana slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, ensuring they don’t overlap.
-
Bake: Bake for about 10-15 minutes, then flip the slices and bake for another 10-15 minutes. Watch them closely to avoid burning.
-
Cool Down: Let them cool after baking to achieve that perfect crunch.
