If you’re aiming for a spectacular bloom with your orchids, we’ve got the perfect mixture for you, using eggshells, coconut fiber (grated coconut shells), mixed pellets, and goat manure.
Orchids with Spectacular Blooms: The Mix You Need
1. Crush the Eggshells: Begin by crushing eggshells with your hands. Reduce them to small crumbs.
2. Add Coconut Fiber: Next, add coconut fiber obtained by simply grating the shell of a coconut. Mix the crushed eggshells and coconut fiber lightly.
3. Introduce Mixed Pellets: Now, add mixed pellets to the mixture.
4. Incorporate Goat Manure Fertilizer: Add goat manure-based fertilizer to the mix. Ensure all components are thoroughly mixed by using your hands.
5. Prepare the “Sock”: Take a fine-mesh net bag (similar to a sock) and cut it to open it up. Slip the top of a plastic bottle into the “sock.” This will help keep the bag open without much effort.
6. Fill the Bag: Fill the net bag with your mix of eggshells, coconut fiber, pellets, and goat manure. Once full, the bag will resemble a sort of “salami.”
7. Secure Around the Substrate: Fasten this bag around the substrate where your orchids will bloom.
8. Water Thoroughly: The final step is to water the entire concoction generously. When the flowering season arrives, the applied homemade compost will have done its job.
As you can see, this is a straightforward process that requires minimal time and no specialized skills. The only trick is to insert the top of a plastic bottle into the net bag, cut just below the neck. This simple trick makes it effortless to keep the bag open while filling it with your DIY compost.
Happy gardening!
